Scottish and Irish accents are so lovely.

I can't think of a single English accent that I actually think is "nice" - they're all horrible. That includes my own weird mix of Yorkshire and northern-esque RP, the latter of which gets worse when I'm at uni.

Yeah I just watched "Who Do You Think You Are?" - SO?

See, I really like the posh Manchester accent, like Steve Coogan and Tony Wilson. I think that's wonderful. But yes.

Even Steve Coogan's voice grates after a while but at least he is blessed with a nicer accent. Most English accents make the owner sound thick. Even though most of said owners aren't thick.

Except for really posh southern accents, they make the owner sound like a twat instead.

I like the really delicate accent you get in rural North Yorkshire as you get up towards the North East. Posh Yorks with a hint of Geordie.

Aye, I like softer sounding accents so naturally the ones that are closer to the Scottish boarder sound more soft than harsh. A light Geordie accent can sound nice.

Any English accent sounds nicer than American accents.

I hate the way I sound.

I think I have to agree as awful as I feel judging an entire nation's accents when I haven't heard every American accent ever. I guess it's the stereotype of loud and irritating tourists in my subconscious that does it.

Though for every loud, irritating American accent, there's an arrogant, rude English accent!

I hate how I sound especially on a recording...it makes me think "do I really sound like that?!".

Depends which English one you mean! Most of them are horrible...most Yorkshire accents for one, and Brummie accents are probably the worst offenders! ;p

I LOVE pretty much all Northern English/Scottish accents. There's a guy off my course who's from Chesterfield and I love him, because when he talks its like listening to the Arctic Monkeys.
I can't BELIEVE I just admitted that.

The softer northern English accents are nice, or people who have a neutral accent. Scottish is definitely nicer though ;).

My ex boyfriend is from Hull but he didn't have like, a proper harsh Northern accent, just ever so slightly Northern. SO BUFF. Sigh.
