My current work project has a few more months to go and as it is full time, it is difficult to do the work and keep up with the gardening, cooking, cleaning and pet care. I worked all weekend without leaving the house and all of last weekend. I'm definitely burned out. Hope I can make it through to the end.

One of the benefits of living in the boonies is the affordability of a larger piece of property. We have an acre, only 20' x 50' feet of which comprise our vegetable patch. another 20' x 20' area contains the blueberries, and smaller rectangles are devoted to black raspberries and golden raspberries. I desperately need to plant more basil!! We had tons last year. Our garden beds are a bit smaller because of the stone paths we laid, although there are more of them -- less room for surrounding the tomatoes with basil plants. M found out that she got into Fordham University today! YAY!! She hasn't decided where she wants to go yet, but, I think Fordham would be great. She has one more school to hear from. I started a new job last week. It is very fast paced and I have tons to learn. I still have to figure out how to structure my day to get enough done. It's a real nail biter. We finally had a sediment filter and purification system put in for our well water. I am glad the days of bottled water have finally come to an end. It will also be nice to spend less time scrubbing the Maryland clay off of the showers, toilets and sinks. It's so civilized! The purified water tastes great, I must say ( Read more... )

The sheers I ordered to go under the draperies in the bedroom arrived today. Yay!! I just have to attach the thingies to the wall to hold back the drapes and the windows should look ok! We finally got around to hanging curtains in our bedroom today. We bought them months ago, but, hadn't gotten around to putting them up. They look great! We also put in a flagstone path in the vegetable garden over the last few days. We need to put in a crossing path, edge the beds with standing stone and we will be ready for spring planting.
