So we got our transcripts today in english class...and i'm so upset. It was always my dream when i was little to be at the top of my class....but on that transcript i was 60th rank out of 478 I believe....the 87th percentile. I mean....being numer 60 in your class isn't bad...but it's not GOOD either...it pisses me off. I work SO hard for my ( Read more... )

oh my gosh. i was soo mad about my ranking too! im 64th. and you know what's stupid? we're in hons/AP classes.... if we were to take all regular classes (no hons) and get a 4.0, we'd be ranked number one. it's so flipping stupid.

Oh and about that ranking system. We don't rank like we are supposed to. Basically, the way SHS ranks is UNweighted rather than weighted. So say someone took straight chorus classes with their acedemics and took all non-honors or AP and got straight As, they are ranked higher than you. I was around the same ranking as you were and colleges look at your unweighted GPA more than your weighted which is why those APs do help a LOT. They are worth more than honors or regular classes are worth and bring your GPA numbers up. I think I had like a 3.8 unweighted and a 4.2 weighted. So yeah, don't worry about the ranking system!

Being number 60 in that class is EXCELLENT Mary so don't kick yourself over it!
