An Oregon Distance Tax???

It looks like Oregonians are being TOO good about driving fuel efficient vehicles. Oregon wants to start taxing people by the miles they drive instead of the gas they consume to make up for lost gas tax dollars. Interesting...

Better than having toll roads everywhere! Paying for road infrastructure when gas isn't being consumed is not a simple thing.

Yeah...I agree it's not simple to measure road usage for that. I do have to wonder if there is another way than tagging people's cars with GPS devices though.

Wonder away. If you figure out a fair method, submit it to our state government. It’s easier to poke holes in an idea than to come up with a better one. Please make sure I don’t get taxed for driving I do out-of-state - and that there aren’t easy ways to circumvent the tax.
