Oh dear, oh dear

Nicolas, Nicolas... you know you can't hold your liquor! If you want to drink with Mr. Putin, do it AFTER you've given your press conference! France's reputation is at stake!

And Dominique... how do you feel about your darling little Volodia having private vodka moments with someone else?

*stares* Oh. My. God. But Nicolas is famous teetotal! And not in the Bush sense either. Maybe he was just out of breath? *watches again* Dear god. Perhaps he was just had one out of politeness (apparently you always have to do that with Russians) and couldn't hold it? Or maybe Vlad is up to his old tricks...

*watches in horror* Vlad...what was in that water you gave him?! You didn't!

Shut up, Segolene.

It's a diplomatic insult not to drink with a Russian... and Sarko isn't used to alcohol so even the lighter dose Putin must've served him was too much, hehehe! I also remember when Chirac went to Russia during, erm, the Raffarin I government I think, he took a couple of ministers with him, including two teatotallers, and they all ended quite drunk at the end of the welcome dinner. It made the headlines.

Vodka, I believe, and no I won't shut up! Think of France!

Sarko should have known better to eat or drink something from Vladimir Putin!

A drunk and incapable President is nothing new for France.

I'm worried what was in that water. I hope Nicolas wasn't offered any "Soup a la Ukraine."

Not under the watchful gaze of the very worthy Bundeskanzlerin, surely?

I'm printing this post and the comments out so I can at least start thinking how to reply; if I write out Nico's comment replies at home, I might be able to get at least some of them posted at the office. It's too risky trying to do it on the fly when people can walk by and see my computer screen.

Whatever's contained in the body of the post (a video link, I'm guessing, based on Domi's "*watches again*"), but I can't see even a link. I'll have to check again when I'm on a public computer or when I get the laptop back.

It's a youtube video of Sarko giving a press conference right after a private meeting with Putin.

One supposes some vodka was imbibed on BOTH sides since he looks and sounds a bit tipsy.

One version of it on youtube gave it the title of "Sarkozy vs Putin. Round One: Vodka."
