At last, here is an update about what is going on with the Challenges and Recs Page, and I apologise for taking so long to fill everyone in.

I'm so sorry things have been so stressful for you lately, especially the attitudes of certain people. I knew through Llinos how busy you are, and though I certainly didn't want the challenges to end, I can see how you would be obliged to, at least for awhile. My thoughts have been with you a lot, and I hope RL settles down a wee bit for you, although keeping busy can be a really good thing, too.

Thanks so much for the good thoughts, they are most appreciated. I hope that all is well with you.

Hopefully I can start the Challenges up again in a few months. Some people need to remember though that the fandom is meant to be fun and is voluntary!

Thank you so much K! I really appreciate you taking the time to say such nice things!

I assumed that everyone (like you did) would realise that I was just busy - and in fact this person had written and got an explanation from Llinos just a couple of weeks ago, so knew very well how busy I was.

Like most people I do what I can in the fandom when I have the time to do so - some people might have all day to sit in front of a computer but I certainly don't nor do most of us.

Thanks so much for saying these things - it's really nice to feel appresiated when someone has made you feel that you are rather useless and not making a contribution. How quickly some folks forget, lol!

I have really enjoyed getting to know you at least a little through the fandom! Thank you so much for being so quick to leap to my defense!

It was my pleasure to do so and I am sorry that I finally failed along the way.

You have not failed in ANY way, and have nothing to apologize for. I'm shocked, Marigold! I think that author is incredibly selfish and rude, and is completely taking you (and this fandom) for granted. You've contributed so much time, energy, love, and creativity to us, it should be applauded, not criticized.

Thank you Janet! I feel better about it all now but really did feel as if I had let everyone down because of the things that were said. But I am only human and I do have a very busy life right now outside the fandom and that has to take precedence. I couldn't believe that this person, a very well known author, would be so petty and insensitive.

You have carried the Challenges for four years now! They've had a good long run--but your RL has to take precedence!

It's quite likely a break will do you a lot of good, and take some of the pressure off. And in the meanwhile, there are hundreds of hobbit-fics out there that would not even have existed without the Challenges, and many stories that found a wider readership through your Recs.

You've worked like a Trojan and now you deserve to rest.

I wish that my break was actually a break but my time is so filled with other things right now that it doesn't seem so! The Challenges and Recs are just immposible right now. Maybe in a few months though, when we are settled in the new house...

I am pleased that so many Challenge stories are out there, and so many of them are just wonderful! The project did take a massive amount of time though so it is a relief not to have to worry about coping with all of that work right now.

Thank you eldanna! I really appreciate you taking the time to cheer me up! I'd love to be doing fandom stuff right now and can't wait until I can be back in the thick of things. But real life does come first, at least for most of us.

The letters and phone call came at a very stressful time and were very upsetting. But I am starting to put this in the proper perspective now and realise that in the great scheme of things the negative actions of a couple of people can't negate any good that I have managed to contribute in the past.

I love my job! Really it is the commuting that is taking such a toll. I am the same age that Blbo was when he left on his first adventure so it's all very tiring.
