Jesus Tap-dancing Christ. I just heard a news report speculation that the Tech shooter may have been autistic. Like people aren't leery enough of my kiddos already, and now the media has to start spouting crap like that...
Oh please. From what I have heard of him (admittedly not an *extensive* amount) he does NOT sound like he was autistic, he sounds like he was DISTURBED, plain and simple. Why can't people hear and understand that, and not try to sift for every potential reasoning as if that will help keep this sort of thing from happening? :-(

The media can be so strange. My newphew's girlfriend heard a reporter interviewing the family's *mail carrier* on tv about how nice the family always was when he dropped off packages. [headdesk]
I'm not an expert, but that behavior sounds like ordinary mundane evil than autism. Aided and abetted by a lot of poorly designed defense mechanisms on the part of the University and the police.
I hope you and your students don't start catching flak *hugs*.
