Not just Austria, "Grüß Gott" is common in southern Germany where I am. Like "Moin moin" is in northern Germany I suppose. It took me a good two months to figure out what the people here say as a goodbye--"Adi" (not sure of the spelling) The dialect and slang here are killing me!
But solala I've definitely heard before. Not in the Mir geht es solala like you wrote.. more of just an answer to "Wie geht's?"

Definitly common down here... *nods* And solala is also quite common, though not in the southern region...

Also "dir" is just another form of "du", which is: you... It's in the dative case, third one therefore... Hope that helped...

And greetings to the fellow Southerner...

Not really a Southerner.. I just moved here :)
Where are you from? I'm just outside of Ulm, finding the dialect to be a bit problematic but I suppose I'll eventually get used to it.

I for one am slightly north of Ingolstadt in a smaller city named Eichstaett - we do have a university though, so we rule... *snickers* And yeah... Odd dialect... Down here it's striaght Bavarian while I originally come from Franconia...

Hello. I followed a link to your journal from deutsche_kultur. You know how it is... you see an icon and you're like 'Fellow Furry?' and you just have to find out. :)

Anyway, I was wondering if it would be alright if I added you to my friends list. As established I'm a young woman also in the furry fandom. I'm also dating a German fellow who lives in Nürnberg. It's gotten a little on the serious side and there is the shadow of possibility that I might be emigrating one day and I am eager to learn anything I possibly can about the experience of moving to, living in, and starting a family in Germany.

Danke!
-Ally/Rezzit
