Trapped in a nightmare

Jun 14, 2010 23:55

I feel like shit… I am the kind of student that can write almost perfectly, I learn quickly and I have many kinds of skills. But hell… everything seems useless. I am trapped in a nightmare. A life I don’t want, doing things that seem pointless. How the hell I am supposed to learn how to do a research of a higher level with minimal direction? Hell… ( Read more... )

I don’t know what you are writing about, but “I stay inside and keep writing, keep thinking and keep analyzing and no results and no satisfaction.”

Sometimes there are no satisfying results and if there are none write it in your paper. Say why there are none.
Another thing to do is adjust your research question.
And sleep over it.

I have written my share of papers and despaired over them too. Maybe I can help you if you describe your problem to me a little more?

Don't give up.

Ahh thank you!
It's not the result that doesn't satisfy me... It's just that I don't know if it's enough and if the prof will be satisfied. And I really, really don't care about grades. My questions are pretty clear now and I know what I have to do, but problems always pop out... If you can help... I don't know... I have various questions at times... The one with a yes or no answer is if I can use articles I used to describe my general theory in order to support my hypothesis. I was wondering about that because I was afraid of repetitions... And the prof couldn't answer!!! I finally used some old and some new ones... And I didin't even know what to look for in the questionnaire article... *sigh* The prof showed me but he definetely thought that I was lazy to read... If he know how many articles I have to check in order to write...

I would use the articles to support the hypotheses. If you think you are getting too repetitive just point to the article so the reader knows where to look for further information and details. That way you can also backup your theory and leave less room for critique.

I don’t know how your paper is structured, but if you have a “related work” part and mention the articles with a short description that helps (and shows that you have read up on the subject matter). In the rest of the paper you can then just mention the article and the reader can look at the related work part to see what it’s about.
Also if you read an article which then turns out to be unsuitable but you still think is worth mentioning, mention it and say why it’s not useful (maybe a different approach to yours,...), or why you think it's worth mentioning.

Hope that helps some :-)
Writing papers can be frustrating.

I feel the same way quite often, that so much feels pointless, so I'm not sure what to say here. But, chin up, at least you have confidence in yourself. Focus on your good points and keep doing your best. :)d
Maybe try some yoga classes? Really helped me starting to be more healthy.
*hugs*

I know I can do... I always find ways to do things. But the whole proccedure is excruciating... I seriously doubt on my communication skills... *sigh* I am just going to relax this morning and start gathering some questionnaires this evening, whatever I have back. I have been told that I have some answers but they are so few...
