Greasemonkey only works on the browsers it's installed on. Anyone not using the script can very well still re-post, I see the option is still available to me on this post if I wanted to use it. Which, for the record, I don't, I'm just saying.

I know, it's just for the people who don't want to click on those button unfortunately ... you know... like when you want to comment, you click on the twitter thingie ...

God I hate LJ at the moment ..

I hate it too! :(

This might be a better option, it's a CSS code you can add to the end of your CSS style page that will hide those buttons. It's not a fix, but at least it'll prevent *inadvertent* re-posting, and it makes the buttons invisible for everyone, not just the people who have it installed:

Yeah, I already hate this... -.- And I don't understand why Livejournal had to connect with Facebook and Twitter... I don't have Twitter, but i don't want ANYONE of Facebook to know about my PRIVATE Livejournal, because it's PRIVATE and I post things there which are really things no one else besides here should know -.-

Yeah well you know how they are ...

What's private stays private here on LJ

They need to have an option to disable crossposting from your own journal for everyone who comments there. Hiding the boxes isn't a fix at all, since it doesn't keep anyone else from seeing (and using) them.

I'm afraid it doesn't.

When I'm accessing the page with the comments through your journal and therefor see the comment page in your journal style it works ... however, when I access it through my f-list I see it displayed in the default LJ style and then it still has the crosspost things.

Honestly, I don't know if I repost?! But I never synced anything from LJ with my facebook account, so I should be safe?
LJ is only asking me about Pingbacks... is it good to have it open by default or not?

No you aren't it's not the fact that YOU want to crosspost we are condemning, but the fact that for a Flocked entry, someone else can post the comment on Facebook and !twitter

Sam, I tried this (repeatedly) in drabylon and it didn't work. Is the problem again that you're the creator? If so, can you please add this to our Custom Stylesheet box?

It's Already done ... Hum... you shouldn't have any problems adding anything in the CSS box... until the css is too long.

But like I said at the end of the code, there's the code.

Sam.

Thanks, Sam. I asked some other LJers to test out drabylon and it seems to have worked for some, but not for all. Some people, including myself, are still seeing the clicky boxes for FB and Twitter. Don't know why. I guess I just have to hope my members are loyal and don't repost anything that shouldn't be.
I used your fix on my own 2 journals and it worked like a charm, so I know I was doing it right! Just another reason to despise LJ right now!
