A few days ago we picked up
Shadows Over Camelot at the local game store. The game can be played by 3 - 6 players, but none the less, Ionel and I gave it a try yesterday, in two. We each took on two characters and played as if there were four of us.
I love this game. Very cool. :o)
I can't wait for Thursday to roll around so we can play it for game night with our friends. It looked complicated at first, so, we decided it would probably be best if we made a dry run, so to speak, before trying to figure out the rules on game night and waste most of the night fiddling around that way. I think it took as a good two hours to play it in its simplified form, because we kept having to check the rules book.
It's different, that's for sure. Everyone is playing against the game (which was one card move away from beating us) and collaborating with each other, that is in the simplified form. The actual game form which will be played on game night will include a traitor character which should make things quite interesting. To win the game, the Knights of the Round Table must acquire 12 swords. For the game to beat the knights, several things can happen, from outnumbering the knight's swords with "evil swords", to surrounding Camelot with siege engines. A tie in the game means the knights lose and the game and traitor win. Sounds confusing, but it is a lot of fun. Well worth the $.
Saturday, we're having some friends over to watch some World Cup cup games and possibly play some poker or board games.
Sunday, we're leaving at dawn to go to Florida for Ionel's work-related training. As usual, I'm nervous about flying. Plummeting from the sky toward my death in a ball of flames does not frighten me. No, my concerns are far more complicated. I worry about what happens afterward. What will happen to my mom who has no one, save for myself, in this world? How will Corcodel cope? That sort of thing. I deal with this ridiculous mindset every time I fly. Blah.
Anyway, we'll be gone until Friday. I hope our hotel will have wireless Internet access, since I have homework to turn in and emails to keep up. I'm sure it will, or, at least, it will have an in-room network drop.
I hope we'll have nice weather. Tee-hee-hee! Since we'll get there Sunday morning, we will have most of the day to do as we please, before training starts on Monday. Can't wait to see the ocean. Not that it looks that much different from the ocean I see here, but the water will actually be warm and swimable! I hate how cold New England water is at the beach. It's why we rarely ever go. Why fight traffic, pay for parking, just to sit on the beach and roast mercilessly with a bunch of people milling about being... well, people, when I can do the same on my patio for free? It's not like we can go swimming while there, the water is usually freezing, even in August.
I have a paper to turn in today, I'm not finished, and I'm not in the mood. Hence, the ramblings on LJ. :oP
Pfrrft!
