Nyota was unimpressed. A lot of guys thought she was 'cute', but it was rare that she could return the compliment.

Hehe. What a typical Nyota reaction. :D

Now the question is: what's Spock doing? In a trance? Or only forcibly retired for a day? Or working on the investigation? Can't wait for the next part already. :>

Um, yeah. Well, I have to write the next part. Who knows what will come out? It's all Nyota's viewpoint, so we'll have to get to what Spock's been doing bit by bit as she uses her sleuthing powers.

Thanks for reading! I hope to write some more soon, in between snow storms. Cheers!

I can, too, but I hardly count. I've been smitten longer than Nyota's been alive! :D

I loved Gaila getting excited about that. What's Spock to her, after all? Ah, roomies!

I'm so glad you're updating again!

(And I bet it was Jim Kirk taking that video...)

Also, I somehow missed that it was USC pulling the prank in the earlier chapters -- as the child of a family of UC-supporters, this makes me gleeful. And I know it's on the wrong side of the bay, but I've always mentally cast Starfleet Academy as essentially Berkeley with a bit of a military tinge.

LOL! I love the idea of Jim Kirk taking the video-- I hadn't thought of that. :)

Go, USC! Actually, the rival university was introduced as "SpaceComm U" -- the "University of Space Commerce" which you'll see more of in a chapter or two. I was worried about using USC as it's already taken. I wanted this rivalry between space for exploratory reasons vs. commercial-- that was my idea, anyway. Should it be USC? Thanks!

I don't know -- UCLA (and by extension the all UCs) are always opposed in my mind as the "academic and serious" schools (where "real" people go) to USC, the "rich kid party school" (where "real" people don't go: apologies to USC and its denizens, who I'm sure are very nice people and very serious scholars) which seems to be the same distinction as Starfleet vs. SpaceComm U so the acronym USC is very appropriate!

Ooh, I love that bit of context setting. Thank you very much!

I, too, went to a "party" school-- the University of Florida. I remember while I was there "Playboy" came out with a list of the top 50 (or so?) party schools in the nation. UF wasn't on the list! However, it was in a footnote: "We would have listed the University of Florida as number one, but we don't rank professionals with amateurs."

That was my school! :D

Oh yes, she is smitten, but you can also see what there is about her that Spock will fall for later.

Well, we can always hope he falls for her in the next part-- when I write it! :D

Oh, I'm so glad to hear you say that! I'm afraid I'm all focused on how _she_ is going to fall in love with _him_. Hooray for feedback! *gives you a hug*
