I loved him as Columbo, but here's a quick clip from that silliest of movies, "Murder by Death":

That's a good one. "Murder by Death" is one of those silly movies like "Top Secret"-- I saw it ages ago and still remember it fondly for the sheer magnitude of ridiculousness jammed into the timeframe.

So many good flicks and roles. I'm still wallowing in clips. I'm listening to an audio commentary where Link and Levinson barred him from the set before the first series began because he was giving them so much commentary on the scripts they couldn't get anything done!

Falk grew up in a town not far from mine. He also attended the New School, Hamilton College, and Syracuse University. He earned a Bachelor's in literature and political science, and a Masters in Public Administration. As I said to my brother over the phone today when we were discussing this--he was one smart cookie!

Brilliant. And his acting was "natural", too. He just sort of took it up-- and excelled. Amazing.

OMG, that roast is hysterical. I had no idea he was so funny.

Safe passage into the West for you, dear Peter.

BWA! And we also get a great bonus from Johnny Carson. What a loss, both of them.

I know. It breaks the heart. I'm so glad we could enjoy their talent -- what a gift.

Have you ever seen Wings of Desire? He's really wonderful in it.

Never saw these in the original version...just the German one. He was a great actor and a terrific man.
Knowing that his last years were spend in a demented state of mind makes it a bit easier to cope with this loss.

Farewell to a great man!

Astrid

I knew he'd been fading for several years. There's a sense of relief of having him go peacefully at last. Still, it's hard not to feel the loss. He's only 3 years older than my mother.
