Every morning I read my Holmesian News journal and click the news links. The following article exploring Holmes' enduring popularity was a charming analysis, so I thought I'd share:

Yeah, this icon is currently making me very happy. :) I forget what Series 1 show it was from. I possibly might have to review.

ACD hit a home run with Holmes-- he got the atmosphere, the friend, and the personality all just right. It's like a miracle. I've tried to enjoy his other works, but Sherlock is head and shoulders above. It just... works. :)

I am glad for their news roundups, too. Along with various other LJ comms (plus some of the tumblr sites which are a hoot as well as informative at times), I also follow the_sign_of_fun LJ for fun newsy stuff that doesn't always show up on Holmesian News.

I'm reading an Agatha Christie and reminded that Poirot and Hastings, great as they are, are just founded on Watson and Holmes, the best!

And I love Cookie's icon. <3

LOL! Yes, great icon! *rescues John one more time*

Everything is based on Holmes... well, after Holmes. And so many of my favorite characters, including Spock and Data, are based on the character as well.

Watson: "You really are an inhuman machine!"

Spock: "Why, thank you, Doctor."
