For what it's worth...

I am a newly minted member of the freshly formed Boulder County Citizens Against Gun Violence. And yes, we are looking for a better acronym! Currently the group consists of the 21 folks who attended the nonpartisan meeting last night in Lafayette, with attendees ranging from Westminster to Boulder to Longmont. ( Saner gun laws )

I'd like to find something like that group here in PA, though the central part of the state is very red and rather insane about their guns. If you know of any lists of groups I could look through to find a group locally, I'd love to see it.

I've phoned my reps and that's like pissing in the wind here, but at least I let them know where I stand. When even 85% of NRA members think we could do something saner with our gun laws, you know that it's time.

One of my idiot coworkers started railing about Obama's executive orders and I shot back 'Oh? Which one of them is oppressive? The one that says we need to make it legal for the CDC to track gun deaths? (There was actually a law that prevented them from doing so) or maybe it is the one that says there should be better communication across states to track people who have a history of mental issues? When you show these idiots the list of what Obama ACTUALLY did, they have no answer.

Yeah, they don't actually read. The NRA started running this ad about Obama being against increased police officers in classrooms, when it is in fact part of his platform. The dweebs.

I've decided I won't argue with crazy people. I'm siding with police officers and safe gun owners to produce some responsible legislation.

Good for you! A suggested acronym (okay, it’s a bit blunt): Citizens Ending Awfully Shitty Events For Infinity. Really, Enough.

I've recently been listening to what happened in Australia after they enacted their tougher gun laws. In the 10+ years since there have been no mass shootings - imagine that! If only Americans could learn from your example.

Yes, truly inspirational.

I wish they could. America's gun culture is appalling. Honestly, if you're not a cop, a licensed hunter who uses rifles (we use 'em for rabbits, roos and foxes etc) or a sportsperson, you don't need a gun. That's it.

Good for you! Our governor is a hero for pushing through the strictest state law in the country. l wish you a similar result in Colorado. This madness needs to stop.

I read and celebrated! It just goes to show what can be done when there's political will. A Republican-lead house too, as I understand. Go, NY!

How about Boulder Assault Rifle Restriction (BARR) or Boulder Against Negligent Guns (BANG) or Boulder Against Negligent Gun Ownership (BANGO) which is my personal favorite.

This is sheer brilliance! I believe I shall forward BANGO to the group! Thanks. :)

Totally go you. I can't for the life of me understand what I'm seeing or hearing or reading about this. And I find it appalling...and beyond scary.

It's baffling to me that we allow such a vocal splinter of Americans dictate the safety and civility of the rest of society. It makes me feel rustic and backward to have these paranoid delusionists terrorizing the rest of us in the misdirected idea of fighting tyranny.

Thanks for lending your voice.
