Oh dear, what a year for you! I am very happy to hear you're still employed (and presumably feeling better now).

Many cheers for the short story sales, that is great! I hope you have a very good 2017 now :D

Thank you! Yes, feeling better and even cheerful about work. Setting strict guidelines and shutting down the computer, WHO CARES is my new byword. (Well, I do, but it helps remind me about priorities.)

I'm excited about the writing. I hope I might actually be writing good stories now. Hope!

Best wishes to you for a terrific 2017!

Hello!! Yeah, suckage was the zeitgeist of 2016 in a lot of ways. But congratulations on the short stories! From struggle comes art, at least. (Sometimes. If we work hard.) I'm not done watching the s4 Sherlock episodes yet, though so far it feels like it's lost some of the initial sparkle and has become rather more grim. Will see how it wraps up.

Yes, Sherlock is a little grimmer this year, but there are still things to enjoy. I quite liked The Lying Detective, more on second viewing than first. I'd appreciate hearing your thoughts when you wrap it up.

I hope your own writing is going well. I feel "caught up" with my short stories-- I'm circulating about 15-- and can turn my attention back to novels. Between Duotrope and Submission Grinder, so far I haven't run out of pro markets.

Best wishes to you (and all of us) for a not-as-crap 2017. :)

Thank you! I'm between projects right now--recently finished a novel draft and am in the uncomfortable but open-to-inspiration place of deciding what to write next. Nebulous ideas forming, kind of.

We just finished The Lying Detective. Antagonist was effectively creepy for sure! And at least the filming style ("Sherlock's brain on drugs"/"John's brain on grief") was something different. The Johnlock element is satisfying, but as you say in your next post (I snuck a peek), it's drifting pretty darn far from the original stories by now, when they used to make a point of playing with those. Anyway, third ep could be interesting, from what they've set up...will see!

I hope you enjoy it! I watched all the episodes a second time, and they improve when one knows what to expect. As you say, not so close to the source any more, but diverting enough for an evening.

Good luck with your new project, whatever it is! I'm also kicking around a new novel idea. Time to get writing. :)

Oh dear, I'm sorry you had such an awful time with your breakdown. Too much work? Not good. ((((you)))) But yay for the short stories!

Now in my 40s, I can understand the 'feeling my mortality' thing. No wonder people have mid-life crises. Have to seize the day!

Absolutely! I have seized this day by catching up on Sherlock fandom. No work, just wallowing. Sometimes I just gotta.

Yeah, I have this tendency to get really involved in work. I'm passionate, and the trick is to focus the passion on writing and not so much on the day job. I'll bend back and forth, but I really hope I can walk that tightrope. In the best of all worlds, I would be able to sustain myself fiction writing. Fingers crossed for a breakthrough.

Here's hoping your book does amazing! Cheers.

Hi Mariole,

I have never understood (and probably never will understand) how LiveJournal works, exactly, so this may be the wrong place for me to ask you a question. Sorry if that's the case!

Did you write a Beatles fanfic a while ago about an attack at one of their concerts? I've been trying to find this story -- it's been consistently on my top 5 fanfics of all time list, and I wanted to track it down. Did you write it? If so, how can I find it?

Thanks so much for your help! - Doctor Lennon 007

LOL. Yep, you found me, Dr. Lennon!

Er, the deal is, a producer wanted to make a movie out of it. Well, shop around the idea, anyway. So I had to take it down everywhere so there would be exclusive rights.

The rights reverted back to me now, but I'm still trying to sell the screenplay. I was wondering if I should try to publish the novel as an alternative history. Would you be interested in buying it, if I were to put it up? I've found another alt history on Amazon, so I'm thinking _maybe_ I won't get sued. I think it would be fairly cheap in ebook form, mostly just to have it nicely put together.

So, what do you think? You get to be the first person to say. Any interest in an ebook?
Thanks so much for your interest. Cheers!

Wow, how exciting that a producer was interested! The story does certainly have a cinematic feel.

I would definitely be interested in an ebook, although my financial position at the moment might prevent me from snapping it immediately off the virtual shelves ;0)

Yay! I'll think about it (which means, work on getting my nerve up). I would love to see this story in book form.

Thanks for tracking me down! I'll let you know if there's any change, one way or another. Happy 2017!

Thank you, Linda!

I'm glad to be back. I tend to spread myself too thin, but this community is so supportive, it's refreshment!
I'm happy to share my thoughts-- relieved, I should say! Feel free to share in turn.

Have a good day!
