I'm assuming he meant kamikaze pilots, although I've also heard of Japanese businessmen jumping out of skyscrapers due to overwork. I took him to the history section.

I should have suggested that. Well, not actually suggested it, but you know. He didn't speak much English (though he wasn't Japanese either).
