Psychology and it's study of is bull

There are somethings I feel are seriously wrong with psychology. One of those things are basing children's reactions to their parents with the stages they go through as either being enveous of thier parents or as a method of detaching themselves from them. I just think that humans are animals. You don't see lions stop and psychoanalyse themselves

First off, I agree with your point about friends and family offering something no one else can. Sadly though, as our society becomes more and more afraid of itself, the kind of relationships you speak of are becoming harder to find. Nevertheless, even with a strong family and friend base, a good shrink should have a box of tissues ready and depending on her practice, be there for you at anytime you need to call. The main thing she can offer that your mother/husband/friend can't is a non-judgmental ear, something even a mother can't offer when you are telling her that she is smothering you with her values/guilt/faith. I'm sorry you have had bad apples for therapists. The three I've seen over the past thirty years have been like compasses for me through this tangled jungle we call relationships. The last one I talked to, Dr. Margaret Mansour, works over at the Garfield campus for non-credit
