I grabbed X-Men Misfits #1 from the library because archica mentioned it and it looked interesting. It's basically X-Men as if it were a shojo manga, and you know how I am about shojo crack ( Read more... )

The art is by a Japanese shojo manga artist, so it's not so much trying as is-- the American writers (who are friends of mine) were told to give her absolutely NO help in direction as far as how to illustrate the scenes.

But the series was canceled after the first book, sad to say...although I believe the second book was completed and is just plain not being published.

Really? I didn't know that. Wow. Nevermind then.

I'm sad to hear that! Well, in that case I think I will pick up a copy next time I'm at Barnes and Noble or Borders. To support them. It was pretty cute.

I haven't read the comics in about 10 years. I just go back and relive memories by reading the ones I have. (I stopped collecting them just after Age of Apocolypse.)

They ran a small preview of it in Shojo Beat once, which was how I knew about the manga itself. I just didn't realize how many liberties they took with the characters until I saw that image I linked to, or how many characters showed up. All I knew was that it was a shoujo manga featuring Kitty Pryde.

I've been a huge X-Men fan since I was seven years old. My comic book collection is gigantic, with some first appearances and some pretty rare issues. It's my proudest accomplishment of my life. lol

Were you talking about the cartoon that featured Kitty, Nightcrawler, etc.? The one-episode thing? It was a pilot that ended up not being made into a tv series, but they based the arcade game on it (which is the one I've been wishing you would download so we can play together). It was cute, but I think the 90's cartoon on Fox was much better. I watched it religiously and now have all the DVD sets. Recently rewatched it for epic nostalgia greatness.

No no no, I'm talking about those comic anthologies the companies release. :P

I started reading that when I was like 7 too. I stopped sometime in high school.

The only X-Men cartoon was the one I saw when I was in grade school, the one on Fox that you mentioned.

Oooh, like the trade paperbacks?

But still, get the game. If you have a mic, we can have such epic fun. Lately I've been acting really silly on there, since 90% of the people who join the game are dudes, I act like a seductress and flirt mercilessly. Not that I have a great voice or anything (I don't, at all) but it's all the proof they need that I'm really a chick so they tend to either get really flustered and mess up a lot, flirt back in hilariously pathetic ways, or (most rarely) realize I'm just playing around and go right along with me. The dudes in the third category tend to be really funny, smart, guys. :D

Sometimes I use other "personas", like a crazy hillbilly who's been drinking moonshine or an incredibly annoying valley girl who squeals and giggles over every little thing and says "like" a millions times a minute. XD

My hobby is messing with people in online games. It's just too much fun. I do this on Home too.

Yes! Exactly. :D I just forgot the name for them. I got one of the really old ones from a garage sale when I was a kid, and then my mom got me a couple others from like 3rd-7th grade.

I only have $9 in my PSN wallet in the moment, so I can't. >.< I have to save some of that for the Hyperdimension Neptunia DLC because I want to have Gust and Nisa as actual party members instead of just supports.

Are the PSN guys really that easy to fool and mess with? Maybe I should get a mic! That sounds hilarious!
