Was that a hint of dominant Luke? Weirdness. LOL. I love seeing activity on this comm, thanks for posting. I'm off to read part 2 :)

Dominant Luke...hmmmm, could be. Luke is usually portrayed as calm or easygoing but I don't think he was really like that under the surface.

I'm glad you've posted in this comm, and starrdust411's comment reminded me of something I meant to say in my first comment! Which is, that I really like the way you've hinted at the power that Luke has, and could have, and the way Han sees this and is a bit shocked by it. It's something I've thought about a few times, :P, and I always think Han would be very, very intrigued by that characteristic in Luke. I don't see Han as being as dominant as he makes out, and I think a few little moments in the films show that. Nor do I think he's submissive, but I don't think Luke is either. I see a bit of both in each of them, and that's one of the things I like so much, and you've caught that here :) Looking forward to Part 3!

Well, I was glad to post it in this comm.

Luke is a very complex puzzle. He would have to be considering his linege. The films and the novels have barely touched on it. I have really started getting into the books the past couple of years and enjoy them immensely, but my biggest problem with them is that Luke goes straight into staid Jedi Master, so serious. We're rarely shown the idealistic young rebel first encountered in A New Hope. Even in Return of the Jedi he's already different though that's usually attributed to the little bit of news Darth Vader shared with him.

But wouldn't you just love to see Luke lose his cool? Not in a turning-to-the-dark-side way but just good and mad or horny or something.

No, I can't see either Han or Luke being submissive. There would always be a tug of war to see who comes out on top.

Yes, I agree with you about Luke. I was very disappointed with the profic - I just couldn't see the Luke I imagined in there, although I did enjoy some of the novels more than others. I think the films gave us lots of little touches to show the complex side of Luke, but the novels seemed to bury him alive and lose all his interesting characteristics. As for what they did to Han and Luke's friendship...

And yes, I love to see Luke show his passionate side - we know it's there because we saw it in the films right up until the end! I don't think I could write a story where that 'other' side to him doesn't show, even if it's just a hint. Something I love about Luke/Han writing is that it usually has both Luke and Han as characters I can recognise from the films - so to me the pro novels are like an alternative interpretation, but not one that I usually want to tie in to the films.

Anyway, I see you've posted Part 3, so as soon as I get a chance, I'm off to read!

Amen. Luke always seems so calm, but I feel that there was more than that brewing under the surface.

This is great! Oh Luke ;D

Off to read Part 2

I saw Part 4 posted and scurried over here to read the other parts first. This comm is so quiet it's always a delight to see something show up! :) Well, if I ever get around to writing out my Han/Luke ideas, at least here's a place to put it! ;)

Good beginning here with Han's conflicting emotions. And I do love how Luke is showing a dominance here, making sure that Han stays. I do love my feisty farmboy! ;)

Han's feeling emotions that he's never really had before. He always had Chewie but now there's Leia, Wedge, the other rebels, and especially Luke. He wants to be a part of it all but he's afraid to give up his independence. And the feelings he has for Luke have really got him running for cover.

I think Luke can be very hard-headed when he wants something too. Luke was feisty in A New Hope and still a little in The Empire Strikes Back. By the time the last film rolled around he seemed to have the weight of the world on his shoulders and he never really lets go of that through all the EU stories since then. I miss the old Luke.
