Unfortunately, the dollars aren't going to make it change any time in the forseeable future, because viewers love that stuff. The closer a "news" show is to Jerry Springer, the more people watch it. Boring interview of someone answering questions in a competent fashion = who cares? The masses want to see someone flub, or give good soundbites, etc etc.
