No Big Youth or New Voter Turnout

So another no-show. "[A]s a share of the electorate, [young and first-time voters] were little changed from 2004" Look, if Obama didn't bring them out, then nobody will. Can we please put an end to the myth that young voters and new voters will ever turn out in disproportionate numbers for Presidential elections now ( Read more... )

Yeah the margin on the popular vote (and the totals) weren't THAT earth shattering for Obama. Given that the vote wasn't much off from 2004 I really wonder how many hardcore conservatives just didn't show up. The ones who McCain was too liberal for, and that voted for Bush last time.

And now it turns out, despite predictions of massive turnout in general, the actual voter turnout was about the same as 2004 for the country in general.
