1. I was all remorseful and ready to post an update talking about how I shouldn't have gotten all cranky about the flight booking thing.

Except, the number of hoops I had to jump through to actually finally get my flights changed makes me feel somewhat justified - even though its all sorted now and I'm back to being calm and happy and looking ( Read more... )

Oh, also spoilery for Mad Men: Roger's acid trip was way less annoying than I usually find drug trips. Probably because it didn't go for very long, and wasn't particularly trippy (also, given the payoff at the end of the trip, it was kinda necessary to at least nod at the effects of LSD beforehand). Sometimes I wish I had taken some drugs when I was younger, because drug trips in TV and movies always piss me off. Seriously, if you've put a drug trip in your movie, fuck you. Maybe they seem cool if you've taken drugs, I always think of them as pointless wastes of my time. I don't want to have to sit through nonsensical garbage in the middle of something I was otherwise enjoying.

Also, having never experienced LSD, I couldn't tell if Roger's trip was an accurate depiction. All those other drug trips scenes I've seen suggest that LSD is way trippier than music coming out of a gin bottle.

I liked all the Arya stuff. I liked the stuff between Renly and Stannis (despite still thinking both are totally miscast). I didn't like the Dany stuff so much (although I can see how this season is really problematic for the writers, Dany does almost nothing during the book - I think she only has four or five chapters). I even liked the scene between Catelyn and Littlefinger (although I also don't like this portrayal of Littlefinger very much).

I am sick of Ros. And I'll be interested to see whether anything comes of the Joffrey sadism scene (like, if its is just a pointless extra scene, then it was excessive and stupid - if, however, there's an actual plot reason for it, I might rescind my judgement).

It also might be the first episode this season where I didn't feel like _too much_ was happening. It was well paced. There weren't any scenes that were actually three scenes in the books.
