sweet of you to offer, but i might be clinically insane.

The other night I decided to try to do a Real Girl Blog Post about Wonderfalls, which is still a good idea and will at some point be finished, only it was 2:30 and I ended up crying-laughing-laughing-crying and listening to that terrible dumb 00s-still-feels-like-the-90s song that swells at the finale. Why is this, of all shows, the one to hit me ( Read more... )

the hour, wonderfalls

This post makes me want to rewatch Wonderfalls! Ugh, such a good show.

And who is great, prickly and lazy and selfish and a Generation Icon in a way where even though the show's a little dated à la music choices and junk she stands up. And it's a show about her, in her myriad imperfections and secretly giant sea-anemone heart and her learning the fine arts of forward motion and emotional honesty via BEING A BEAUTIFUL BITCHASS PROPHET-GIRL

Right? The more I think about Jaye, the more ridiculously progressive she feels - that she choose to be lazy and did not have drive and most certainly, certainly, was not nice.

"You're spiteful in a way that the definition of spiteful doesn't quite prepare you for."

IF THE SHOW HAD GONE ON HE WOULD HAVE WORSHIPED HIS SISTER AS A RELIGIOUS FIGURE, WHICH, I AM NOT RLY REGRETFUL OF CANCELLATION AS STATED, BUT I DO REGRET THAT.

So perfect in so many ways. I love that one scene of Aaron trying to get the animals to talk to him.

Also, if you haven't watched this, watch this.

WHAT a well-edited vid, eeee.

YES REWATCH and yesss, the show has period elements but she feels crazy contemporary-like, direct fit in post-recession New Adult land.

(Icon, omg! Torturous moments in the history of TV: THEM NOT MAKING OUT IN THAT DAMN HOTEL, SO HELP ME.)

You know, I watched Wonderfalls when I was still in HS; I imagine I'll find it even more apt as a twenty-something.

I like to think of Wonderfalls as a really long, satisfying movie (or mini-series I guess). I can't be too bummed about its cancellation because the season does tell a complete, wonderful narrative.

And man you're reminding of what an emotional toil those last few episodes before the finale were. HOW DARE YOU. Really. Like, I still get panicky feelings about them.

I'm just going to roll around in this post because someone wrote extensive feelings about Wonderfalls. And that someone was you.

So stressful, and yet so satisfying to go back to! It's such a luxury to love Heidi when you trust the narrative. (The first time, though. It's like-WE DON'T HAVE TIME!!)

I'M IN EMOTIONAL COLLAPSE, MEG. STILL. TALK TO ME. Also excellent use of beautiful Dhavernas pointy face in icon. Her angles. I am obsessed with every single one of them.

I've finally (finally) procured this thing from Amazon (the first time I watched it was via download and that was several computers ago, apparently). A re-watch is in order thanksalotImeanthatsincerely. Are you going to do Dead Like Me next?

BASKING IN THIS NEWS. And, I assume so! Whenever that 'next' is. I just...have to stop watching Wonderfalls. Which may be a long time coming.
