Today's post is a tribute to a marvelous actor. He became famous for his role of the protagonist in George Lucas's "Star Wars Trilogy." Later, he found a niche in voice acting, particularly through his role as the Joker in the "Batman" animated series. Lovely tribute to Mark, and you've summed up many of the things I admire about him. I'm a huge Star Wars fan, and of Luke (and Mark) in particular, so this reply is more Star Wars oriented.

the reason we become so compelled with Luke's coming-of-age journey is because of Hamill's performance ... Hamill displays growth from rashness and overeagerness to wisdom and maturity.

I agree totally with you, and find that those fans who complain about Luke's overeagerness and enthusiasm (along with that overused complaint of 'whininess' that actually I don't see) in the first film are missing the whole point of his character's development, and by definition, the point of the film from the way I see it.

His chemistry with Harrison Ford (Han Solo) and Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia) is also a selling pointAnd again, this really made the movies work so well for me too :). I think George Lucas should be given a great deal of credit for just 'seeing' how the three of them fitted together so perfectly. Without that chemistry, and the interaction of ( ... )

Wow, I wasn't expecting such a quick and favorable response.

Thanks sincerely. I really wanted to post my thoughts on this actor ever since I found out about this community. His acting as Luke is indeed very special. I also feel that his contributions to Anime, particularly Miyazaki, deserve mention.
