PS Suspect you'll still feel responsible long after the technical age of adulthood. My youngest sis is still living at home part-time but my parents say they still feel responsible for all of us (even me and I'm 3-and-a-bit decades older than Lottie)

Bother - we have a card and present for Lots for which I need a time machine in order to post in time for today. Will she forgive us?

(This is particularly galling as Alex has asked, in a pilantive voice, every morning for the past week 'dea'nlotts' and been most put out when we've told me we weren't going to see them today so I had a constant reminder of the person, if not the date)

thanks for the message. Lottie was a bit non-plussed yesterday as people kept phoning her to wish her happy birthday and it was clearly getting in the way of the important business of openin gpresents. some people phoned and expected her to talk to more than one person!!!!

anyway this morning as we were walking to school she told me all about toddler Alex phoning and singing her happy birthday and wasn't it great and could she teach him some more songs
