Regarding your deep thought section- okayoats September 19 2005, 09:59:27 UTC
The same thing happened when I took a comic book class last Maymester- a group of individuals were all tripping over themselves to prove their knowledge and, therefore, their superiority.

Two of my friends made theoretical "Academics Turrette's Syndrome" awards for said individuals, and they would shake the imaginary papers in their right hand whenever someone was quoting a panel from a Batman comic from 20 years ago or something.

Ahh. sigh.

Lols, a comic book class sounds like the perfect bait to lure a bunch of 'em into one place.

Two comic book people haveing a conversation much more closely resembles sparring then discusion.

I think generally you are right, but there are certainly those of use who break the system.

I think you are charismatic enough that even with only a minimal knowledge of their subculture you could be exalted amongst geeks by force of personality alone. Perhaps charisma is like sneak attack versus geeks; they simply have no defenses against it due to inexperience with it rather than their heavily fortified and well-tested defenses against opposing trivia banks. =D

I feel pretty confident that I stopped trying to show off my anime knowledge during my first year at Nashi, and I was president for a year at a half and can pretty confidently say that I was near the top of the pecking order.

Also cases like Michelle break the mold. She only has an in depth knowledge of Gundam Wing and Harry Potter, but despite her limited knowledge pool she is extremely popular as well. I believe this caveat can be called the power of boobs >.>
