My older sisters taught me to make daisy chains when I was a little girl. And there was May Day, of course. We'd make little baskets out of paper scraps, fill them with wildflowers, and leave them at neighbours' doorsteps.
These days I don't do much more than go for a walk in the park and look at all the flowers and green grass there.

Was May Day a holiday? What did it celebrate?

Nothing much, really. It's to celebrate spring, mostly--well, when we celebrated it, it was, the unions do other things, of course. It's sort of a game--you have to knock on the door of the house you're leaving your May Day basket at, and if they open it before you've run away and hid, you owe them a kiss.

And no, it's not actual mouse ears. It's just the name of the only kind of flower which really grew in our area of the South Pole.

...I got rid of them all, unfortunately. [Mostly to other people, but what was left was well spoiled a day or two ago.] But... if you wanted some, there are a few left on the very high branches. I was trying to get them down.
[Friendly and casual, we has it.]

[VASH LOVES FLOWERS!]

I'll bet you do - but that's not the same thing as seeing them growing.

[No, really. He really, REALLY likes flowers.]

You know what? I'd like that, Vash. We should do that sometime.

Hopefully she doesn't trip over Katara.]

The voice stops Mia in her tracks and takes her attention away from the water]
Hello. I'm sorry, I nearly walked right into you!

That's all right, you missed me! [Blue... hair...
Katara blinks a bit, smiling.] I'm Katara. What's your name?
