The First Day

Today was my first day of being a full-time writer, and frankly, it was rather mundane. Started clearing my desk and making it a useful workspace. I know! Since the days won't be filled with me bitching about Oracle, they'll actually be interesting. I'll be, ah, bitching about. . .something. I suppose.

I guess I should probably find something to be angry about. Umm. . . Those damn birds! Always cheerful and making so much noise. At the freakin' crack of dawn too. And all day! Damn birds. Go get jobs, you slackers!

Clearly, I'm going to need to work on my righteous ire.

Yeah, I think you have a few kinks to work out in that voice, but I'm sure you'll get there.

I've been working full time for the first time in a while, so I'm doing the opposite little stunts--letting my desk drown in debris, not posting much of anything, and hardly listening to any music.

Luckily, this alien way of life will be over soon.

Hey, I just quit my job two weeks ago as well! Congrats on being unemployed and loving it!

And although I still have a lot of non-writing things to do, I do plan on trying to get in at least 20 hours a week now of writing.

Let's see: today, I got up, walked the dog, applied to some jobs, and read a fair bit of DeLillo. Now, it's time to head to the neighborhood pub for some beer writing.

The glamorous life, eh?
