First off, my apologies on the heavy nature of part 1 of this deal. I'd like to say that I absolutely can't stand the scatter brained/ shot gun approach used in part 1. Wow dude that is one very long paragraph in that rant you wrote. I think you might get your point across a little better if you were to separate your thoughts into sections so that people reading it can follow it a little better, and include a summery introduction with some parallel structure for those of us who don’t have the time to read all of that.
On another note, why does this bother you so much?

I would feel similar under such conditions, although letting it get to you to this extent is what I can't figure. If this person means so little to your Career path and Life in general, why are you spending so much time complaining about them?? Some people deserve the attention & some don't. It may irritate you to see someone who has less motivation / ambition than you and then say things contradictory to this sloth-like philosophy. Just learn to give it the attention it deserves (aka "none") and focus on YOU. With your motivation & commitment to your ideals, putting up with this "deterrance" should be a temporary thing....
