I know that desire for nature all-too-well. I used to feel sick with it, the three years I lived in Illinois with no ocean, no forests, no mountains.

I am so glad you are rid of your ex, though there will probably always be that persistent sense of injustice, that he didn't get what he deserved for the way he treated you. :(
The first stanza is so perfect - or maybe it's because I live in Texas and I can really feel it. But i love where this poem went and how we ended up back at the catbird's seat, escaping everything for a little bit.
