I looked at the proposed new spellings... so wrong, wrong, wrong (I just can't imagine spelling right as "rite").
And, it was really unclear to me how these quasi-phonetic spellings would deal with the fact that many English-speaking countries (or even regions within countries) have vastly different accents. Will each region have it's own spelling? And language is constantly shifting in pronunciation, generally--how do you account for the probability that 200 years from now we'll be speaking in different accents and patters? Many words are only odd to us now because they were first written when pronunciation was different (ie, many 'silent' letters were once noisy).

As someone in favor of spelling anarchy... I think I should get in on that protest action.
