Oh, I totally hear you about the big confrontation falling flat. There wasn't really a lot of build-up for that one, and it was bound to pale a little in comparison with all of the other Big Things happening, but IDK, I was probably just awful glad there was a happy ending for basically everyone, so I didn't really care too much. <3 Though now you mention it, Anzu was kind of weird, though I remember Liannan saying that he was always the most human of the three of them, so I guess it kind of makes sense.

I missed Jamie too. :( For a few chapters there, I was worried he had become eeevil, and I was really relieved to see the old Jamie was still there. Also, I loved the Alan/Sin. I haven't been shipping them from the beginning, but my love for that ship blossomed just recently and I cried actual tears of joy when they got together (just to have that taken from me a page later, gaaaah SARAH).

So, I do think it was a nice wrap-up of the trilogy. (:

Yes exactly! To me the Alan being a demon thing hit me. I read that someone in Sarah's post on lj said it was worse than having Alan die and I agree. It's like with Peeta in the last Hunger Games book. Everyone excpects death but not a fate worse than death.

Yes I thought that too about Anzu. Nick was probably the worst out of the three and so I guess I can understand it. I guess he was just really curious because Nick was so much crueler than he was and still he likes his human life now.

YES Jamie. I need more Jamie stories because I so enjoy his snarky comments. I probably identify a bit with him there haha I shipped Alan/Sin a bit since the last book but like I said in my comment on Sarah's post I shipped everyone who wasn't related at some point I think. I really thought it was perfect because they're so similar in a way. :D

Me too! Nice wrap-up yeah!

about that "bigger fandom" thing----

someone explain to me why, why, WHYYYYYY barnes&noble does not stock these books. Three times now I have asked them if they had ANY of SRB's books and they never did*. They have shelves full of absolutely cruddy paranormal romance and yet they don't have this?!?!

I want this series to be popular so badly =(

*(and my B&N is a fairly large one, so no excuses there)

YOU GUYS OMG AHJSKSL;SDKLSG *flails*

So, I really loved this book. I was kind of sceptical about it in the beginning because it wasn't as easy to ease into Sin's point of view as it was with Mae's (which is probably my favourite), but after about two or three chapters, I lost myself in the book. I think that what I loved most was Alan/Sin because Alan deserves some love FFS, and he and Sin are performers made for each other. <3 I died of laughter when Alan told Sin, "I don't lie to you. I lie with you", and then realising how that came out, sweet, adorkable Alan who is also dangerous and possibly lethal, but oh so adorkable. I feel the need to share my favourite line with you guys!

"Alan used one hand to subtly go for his gun and the other to keep his page, then actually looked at her and sent the window whirring down." HE MARKS HIS PAGE WHILE GOING FOR HIS GUN. *___ ( ... )

I knooow. Alan is so smooth. I loved the scene where they told each other their most common lies. AAAAH A well written ships makes me all happy and fluttery inside.

I LOVED THAT ALAN KEEPS HIS PAGE IN ANY SITUATION. This book really made me like Alan a ton more.

Yeah I agree with the a bit over the top. With the happy ending kind of as well. Not that I WANTED anyone to die but y'know. It felt like more people died in the other two books and to me the most people should die in the last book haha Harry Potter style.

Oh and also I was listening to the Pretty Reckless EP when I started the book and there's this one song Make Me Wanna Die (it's pretty known because it was in Kickass I think?) and it fit so perfectly!

I had everything
Opportunities for eternity
And I could belong to the night

Eyes, your eyes
I can see in your eyes
Your eyes
You make me wanna die
[...]
And everything you love will burn up in the light
Every time I look inside your eyes
Make me wanna die

Taste me, drink my soul
Show me all the things that I shouldnt know
And theres a new moon on the riseI really thought that was perfect when Sin kept talking about Nick's eyes ( ... )

PS: And while I was nearing the end of the book there was a huuuuuuge storm outside. Like trees shaking, rain really coming down like it would hurt you if you went outside and I just thought: Oh Nick
haha

oh, I love it so much. Gotta say, I didn't find it hard easing into Sin's perspective, possibly because she was always a character I was utterly fascinated by, liminal and central at the same time, and Surrender just took it further. I agree that the big showdown fell a bit flat, possibly because things had already gone so horribly wrong that it was hard to imagine them actually getting worse, and because I was pretty certain that I knew how demon's marks worked, and it wasn't like that. (Dear Mae, Nick and Jamie, I know you too well) But I didn't see anything else coming...

If you're interested, I did a reaction post yesterday in which I Had Feelings all over Cardiif and generally made a bit of an idiot of myself. It's up here: http://parenthesised.livejournal.com/25639.html#cutid1
