You're welcome. I try not to spend too much time playing the nostalgia game (I want to make new memories!), but radio has a definite spot in my childhood. :)

i've noticed that about radio stations, how they do seem to come in better at night. I remember listening to stations from San Francisco in my room when i was a teenager, this really good station that would only come in once the sun went down, and sf's about 3 hours away. The desert is a good place to pick up all sort of weird stations from lots of different places, most pretty far away, i guess the vast openness gives it a broader range. I think my favorite was the bible sermon station crossing over w/ the rock station when they were playing, "the beautiful people". it was too perfect, like the Shell sign with the S burned out. :)

A science teacher explained it to me once, why radio signals come in better when the sun goes down, and the weird way it bounces around in the atmosphere, but I've mostly forgotten it. So I call it "magic", and don't think about it much. :)

It sounds like you got to hear some fun combos. I can remember the same thing. Bible-talk-radio is bizarre enough, but throw in some fun music and you've got a whole new layer o' bizarro.

I think it was something about sunlight's ionization factor, if I remember my science teacher.

But yeah, I also spent a good portion of my childhood late at night, seeing what wierdness I could get on the stations. I still think my favorite was a talk station that, for some reason, I would get twice, with a ten second delay on it the second time....

There is--and was--a lot of weirdness floating out there on AM radio, but I seem to remember a couple times hearing the same thing with the delayed second station. Of course it was usually with a show that didn't deserve even one signal. :)

Hey! Our mutual friend undinesprite seems to think that we have alot in common. I know that we seem to both enjoy Buffy, Wonderfalls, SciFi geekiness, and a common taste in women.

I just thought I'd say "hi".

I like your journal, by the way.

Hi!

Yes, I'd say those are definitely common likes. :) I had been dipping into your journal yesterday, and enjoying it, but couldn't think of anything witty to say in return. It sounded like a fun weekend of filming (despite creative differences).
