Ok, I've gone longer... I always think about updating my LJ but so rarely do it these days...
Not a huge amount going on with me... I'm now the secretary for my toastmaster's club (JETS) which is a lot easier to do for the phone conversations then club meetings (because for the phone conversations I can put them on speaker and just type away on my laptop).
I want to get a new laptop or desktop. I kind of set my mind to desktop (as I can get much better specs) but that means I have to buy a monitor to go with it... The reason I want one soon? (desktop or laptop) my laptop has been blue-screening every once in a while due to something being wrong with my internal hard drive (I can hear it clunking every time I've been present and it's blue-screened). It's put up with my abuse for a good five years... Think it's time for a new one; and I don't want to lose my current data so might be the sooner the better.
I want to get an HD-LCD-Large screen TV (at least 42"). But new laptop/desktop is first.
Getting tired of I wants? Just a couple more...
I want to pay off all of my outstanding CC debt by May 2008. I decided this near the end of May. At the time I had over 9,000 in debt and now I think I'm down to about 8700 (need to double-check this). Might still be doable... I'm going to really try. It's bad enough that I have over 12,000 in student debt, I really should not have let the CC debt get so out of hand.
Lastly - I want an iPhone. I've been reading about it online and by far the biggest draw for me is its Japanese language support. Although KDDI Mobile also has phone with Japanese language support their phones are old (at least two years; they don't update their product line), only support small messages (70 characters), and not good web access. Whereas with the iPhone I can txt in Japanese and use a web browser on the phone to e-mail in Japanese. Sounds like a win-win for Japanese doesn't it? Downsides? $$ If I want to pay off all debt buying a $200 phone with a minimum service plan of $70 a month does not seem like a good way to go about it... Might have to consider ramen as a viable food product for the coming year... I really want to get that debt paid off.
Well, that wasn't quite my lastly. I'm also debating about visiting Japan in '09. I had been planning (since before I decided to pay off all CC debt by May 09) to visit in April/May of next year. However, I spend a lot of $$ when I go to Japan (not even including the plane ticket or any amount I bring with me) and it's a huge drain on my wallet/accounts. So I've been thinking that I need to decide on one of five options:
1) Go to Japan for a shorter time period (same amount for ticket, less for when I'm there)
2) Go to Japan on a free economy ticket with miles
3) Still go to Japan on a ticket with miles but have it be a first-class ticket in April/May
4) Wait until after the summer and go to Japan on a first-class ticket via miles
5) Hold off in '09 and visit Japan again early '10...
Sometimes I really hate $$... If I had a lot of it I wouldn't have any of the above issues. If I had almost none of it (even less than I do know) I wouldn't even fantasize about the above things (although I probably still would, just a lot less...)
