I'm glad you've already found some relief from talking with the midwife, and it sounds like you're on a good track to get things handled for good. :)

Yay baby food from local produce!

Also yay, Prairie Home Companion. LOL.

Also yay, Prairie Home Companion.

:D

I'm pleased someone got the reference!

And of course you know that ketchup has natural mellowing agents. Oh, if it were only as easy as my drinking a gallon of the stuff!

Hang in there. I'm glad you've started doing something for yourself with this PPD thing. And please don't let that "suicide" thing scare you too much, either.

YAY for your demonstration and John's books! Good luck with both of those. :)

/"...in the plain brown paper bags with the stains on the bottom so you Know they're fresh." lol! nice title

*giant hug*

Congratulations for taking the first, second and third steps! You rock just for doing that!

The reason they list suicide as a possible side effect is because of the nature of healing. When you're horridly depressed you are unable to commit the energy to kill yourself. Once the depression begins to lift, you have a period of time where you still have some depression and yet there is enough medication in your system to help you be more active, so you have the energy to kill yourself.

Then you improve and get past that.

If you have ONE SECOND of thinking about harming yourself, call someone. Anyone. You are too precious.

(sorry, I'm a first born child with "fixer" tendencies)

Thank you for the specifics. The more knowledge I have about this stuff, the better.

My biggest worry is that the medication would somehow override my innate common sense. I can usually snap myself out of any bad situation, as difficult as it may be to do the snapping, but with an unknown influence (i.e., medication) I have no clue as to how it will affect my ability to do so.

I recently started Celexa, and haven't had any side effects yet. Good luck with it all, and it's a great, brave thing you're doing.

Also, could you forward me the baby food info.? A friend of mine is pregnant and might be interested, Thanks!

Celexa is what I've been prescribed. Very glad to hear that you haven't suffered any ill effects yet. I've been put on a low dosage because medications of any kind whack me a real wallop (I only take one Tylenol for headache, or 1/4 Benedryl for hay fever, for example).

RE: the baby food info. I can recommend the books I use, if that's what you mean.
My primary reference books are:
So Easy Baby Food by Ahlers and Tallman
and
Super Baby Food by Ruth Yaron

If your friend wants to followup on a more individual basis, hand her my email address: spamdiane at earthlink dot net
I can also hook her up with a good Yahoo Group about making baby food.

How is Coya doing these days? I think of her especially during these hot, humid spells.

And I hope your procedure goes/went smoothly today. Get some good rest afterward.

Wow! That is good news re submissions for the Society of ILlustrators show! Fingers crossed!

What a relief that the runs have finished. That's a long time to deal with it.

All the best with your new meds. One doctor I knew suggested that people keep a journal of their moods and how they felt after their daily dosages, etc. It was helpful to see if one's mood became better over a few weeks, and if forgetting a dose meant an instant drop in mood or not.

Re: journal. That is an excellent suggestion! Thank you!

Did you receive my marsupial question?

Female marsupials have pouches but not males because the littl'un feeds there. http://www.epa.qld.gov.au/nature_conservation/wildlife/caring_for_wildlife/carers_kit/mammals/marsupials/
Of course, an male macropod could have one in a story (I haven't finished that story yet).

Thanks re: the pouch question. We just didn't know if marsupials in Australia were that sexually dimorphic.

I started a moods/meds journal today. What an awesome suggestion. I told John about it, showed him where it's kept and he can view it freely. It's far easier for me to write what I'm feeling than saying it aloud, at this point. And this way John can keep an eye on my behaviour if something goes wrong gradually.
