Exiting presidents typically aim for graceful exits to give the incumbent a chance, otherwise people might defer to the prior administration.
and the right won't even touch bush - he's too unpopular. McCain did not ask him to attend the GOP convention
I'd also argue that during the lame duck presidency, Bush was rather supportive of Obama
and I would have killed to see you take down 700 old white people :) (I'd have been by your side, telling my relatives to suck it!)
