Darjeeling

Okay, it suddenly occured to me that I've had my bag of Darjeeling tea a whole month and hadn't tried it yet. ^^;

They're changing out the water mains near where I live, so we're on a boil water notice anyway. What better way to make the most of all that boiling than to make myself piss like a racehorse brew gallons of tea ( Read more... )

Wah! I'm so glad you liked the darjeeling (*^*)! Now I have to go make some ...

Okay, I consulted my old-as-dirt-kanji-dictionary-of-doom ...

The kanji 岼 (also pronounced 'yuri') is "a level spot part-way up a mountain"

There are over 35 kanji for "yu" and another 35 kanji for "ri" ... so that's over 1225 possibilities, but chances are, most of those kanji are used for names or are really obscure. 百合 is one of them (the lily) ... the kanji for "hundred" and the kanji for "together" or "total" ... so yeah, unless he gives you kanji, I have no answers!

Okay, that's all the info on 'yuri' I gots! Although, you probably know more about it than you ever wanted to (XD). You still might want to ask Yoshiko, though ... I can look up many things, but Japanese I am not (._.) ...

I think he was the arrogant one. I mean, "so and so said so" is not an end al, be all solution. They could be wrong (oh noes!). Unless he has definite proof, I wouldn't take him seriously. Unless, of course, Yoshiko can verify his claims ( ... )

Nope, but they're on my list. =) I want to drink the three bags of tea I already have before I get too many more.

Back onto yuri; I wrote the guy back and said: "That's even better. (referring to his Japanese teacher) Do you have the actual kanji handy? Because I'm a little confused now."

He replied: "there are over 1000 kanji! What are you trying to write?"

-_-;; I even quoted his original e-mails, so I have to wonder about him.

Thanks for your help, Ook. I'll be updating my definition using what you told me in your e-mail. =)

Well I tried looking too, and granted I'm not as good as Ooksie or Yoshiko, or even that dude's teacher, but I couldn't find it either. ^^ (Closest I got was 'yurimi', which could mean 'anything(-anything)-beauty,' and, well, yuri.)

And now this makes me feel like a bad person, cause I lost the list of phrases and such I was going to give to you for the dictionary, and I can only remember how to spell one (and the other I'm questionable on) and was going to give it to you later anyway. x.x

"Ojamashimasu!" It means roughly, "excuse me for interrupting/I am coming in," you say it when entering a stranger's home. (I'm not even going to sort through the list for the proper kanji. ~_~) Learned via Furuba. ^^; (I hear "Ojamashimashita" is what ones says when leaving a stranger's house, but I haven't been able to confirm.) (And you already got to the colors...)

Don't worry about it. =) I seriously appreciate what you and ook have done. *glomps*

Cool! I'll add it. =) Thanks so much! I'm getting pretty good at figuring out how to pronounce romanji, so I'll ask Yoshiko if Ojamashimasu is used like that.

Yeah, I'm having fun grabbing all my colors. *grin*
