Oh screw that. I can't even read it all. Complete BS. They did this with my nephew in preschool, and my sister being the straight-a student her whole life (even in preschool), she just wouldn't have it. She removed him from that preschool because they weren't teaching her child proper intelligence in the English language.
Creativity is grafted from the mind. It is spun together and weaved so masterfully through thought and concern and care. If you can't blasted read what the child's writing, it's no different than that Maisy show. She's a mouse. She's not a talking mouse, like you see in many other cartoons... she mumbles, as do her friends. Most children that watch that show cannot speak even proper English for a child at two. And I can hardly understand children at two, but apparently there is a proper English level for children at two. And Maisy doesn't encourage children to speak.

Wow, this makes me really sad...I'm trying to improve my grammar and English skills and they're dumbing our children/siblings to a lower level? This isn't cool. Not to mention they are contradicting to what the college level wants. It's bad enough getting into college is already hard. Encouraging this shit is going to make it even more difficult.
Actually, I was never taught spelling or grammar (x_x) ... My school was all about expression and free though, but little did they know it would mess me up for the rest of my life. I was never presented with grammar until I got to college, and by then I was already expected to know it! It's all so laughable ...
To this day I rely on spell checkers like a mad woman. But then again, I have to make sure I spelled my name right sometimes (^^;) ... I get nervous when I fill out forms and such *laughs*
As for grammar ... all I can say is, yay college!! Granted, I don't use real grammar when I'm writing random things, but when writing a story I try my best to make it correct. I would have been so much better if I had been exposed to it from the beginning, though ... (:/)
