Nope. They couldn't save squat. Since it's a Mac the Geek Squad didn't have the proper technology to check to see if anything was salvageable and the Mac store that I took it to explained that to try and find any information on the ruined drive would cost more than the computer itself. They gave me a new drive and my baby is up and running again, even though all the stuff on my old drive is now sitting at the bottom of a garbage bin. Such is life. I'll just have to make new memories and steal the music off the iPods of my friends all over again :)

O-O I can't even imagine. My parents got me a 1 TB external as my Christmas present, so I've shoveled all my junk onto it.

I hope they save your files from the Great Digital Beyond.

The Great Digital Beyond has swallowed my files and done with them what it wants (primarily not given them back to me).

Funny thing is, I went out and bought an external today in the hopes that something could be professionally salvaged and stored but now have absolutely NOTHING to put on it. Ah well. I'll have files of crap on this baby in no time I'm sure :)
