Rockville High School was closed on Friday, May 1, under the order of State of Maryland and Montgomery County health officials, due to a probable H1N1 flu case. all youths possibly exposed to this should cease attending school immediately and report to shopping malls and movie theaters to kill time, sneeze, and use public drink fountains -- thank you, the authorities

Gov. Martin O'Malley said that although Maryland still has no confirmed swine flu cases, guidelines from the CDC direct schools with probable cases be closed for up to 14 days.

Dude, it's the f'ing flu. The normal flu kills 10-20 thousand people each year. While it's sad that about 200 people have died with this one, it's just reached a level of ridiculousness that makes me want to bury my head in the sand.

My guess is that the CDC wants to try and stop the spread of this flu. While the panic is ridiculous, trying to stop another strain of virus is an admirable cause, at least.
