When faced with dim lighting and no lighting, I realize that the bright side of the room still isn't that appealing. Nevertheless, at least you have something treatable. How exactly did they come to guess you had that?

Tests. A bunch of blood samples and a spinal tap from like back in 2007, they said they wanted to take another sometime soon.
