Yeah, it's kinda heavy. Not in terms of the actual text, but the themes. Some of the scenes are really hard to read without a strong gag reflex. The descriptions are highly graphic.
It's odd how much I can identify with the protagonist's state of mind right now (except for the minor fact that I don't go around sexually torturing and brutally murdering workmates, hookers, children and animals).

I'll lend it to you. Definitely worth a read. But the movie sucks once you've read the book.
