To those who may 'stumble' upon my writings here, I put to you that more than mere curiosity spurned your idle investigations. For who, in this glorious age of debauchery has not, at the very least, become acquainted with my name and the connotations of the acts whose very title were deriven from it? Furthermore, if objections were to be raised ( Read more... )

I can assure you, Marquis, that I have appreciated your works for a fair space of time. I am delighted that you have chosen to grace us with your presence, and have seen fit to regale us with your tales of most exquisite debauchery, Sir.

OOC: I have kept hoping that someone would have the courage to take on the Marquis de Sade as a muse! :)

A loyal fanatic I see, and one who is so fair of face too. I am left nothing short of salivation as to what delights may lay beneath your socially acceptable exterior Madame. I should be keen to entertain you most frequently.

((I've toyed with this muse for a while, and finally just bit the bullet and went for it, so thank you, I hope I can do him justice :)))

Monsieur le Marquis: I am by birth of the Unseelie, our very name means "unblessed". I consort with fallen Angels and the very daemons of Hell. And my husband is none other than Monsieur le Comte de Rochefort, chief Inquisitor to Cardinal Richeleau. Let us be straightforward with one another and assert that beneath socially acceptable exteriors, debauchery and lecherousness as the underlying behaviours abound within them all. Never is this more true than within the members of the Nobility - this is particularly true of the French nobility.

Have no fear, Monsieur. You will most certainly entertain me, I am sure.

OOC: Excellent! Well, if you are looking for a home for him, please consider bringing him over to writers_muses. You won't need to fill out an application, since I am one of the Mods and have invited you personally. Simply hit join and I will approve you. :-)

A veritably fascinating lineage by both birth and marriage Madame. I am as intrigued as I am keen to further our acquaintance. May the opportunity to titillate your fancies be as forthcoming as your response here was.

((The community looks great, just what I need to get his 'juices' flowing as it were ;) XD

Thanks :D ))

Hope you don't mind the friend add. This muse is so fascinating and well done, that I'd like to read the Marquis' writings :) Sadly I'm not much of a writer, but a couple of my muses/puppets appear around and about.
(Casanova would have been some 15 years older than the Marquis, I'm interested in the era, not that the drama my muse is from ever pretended to be historically accurate!)
I HAVE to watch 'Quills' now.

((Not at all ^^ And thank you, you're more than welcome.

It is likely that they knew each other actually as Casanova was known to have spent time with Voltaire, who was also good friends with the Marquis' father and his writings were inspiration for some of the Marquis' own philosophies. Additionally, the Seven Years War (1756-1763) saw the Marquis as a young man in active military service for the French, and Casonova was entrusted for the same cause to increase the French State Treasury by selling bonds in Amsterdam.

Casanova returned to Paris in 1767, and was expelled after several months by Louis XV for his involvement with the scam involving the Marquess d'Urfé, this coincides with the Marquis' peak of activity in Paris prior to being arrested the following year for his abhorrent abuse of a prostitute.

So it is highly likely they were acquainted, and in more than a formal handshake kind of way. *g* ))

((Yay :) )

I've been reading up on some of the dates, and was quite surprised to discover there's only a relatively short differences in their ages. Most of My version of Casanova's history comes from the BBC production, (2005). But I do try and supplement it with 'extra' tidbits so that he's not too limited.))

To subscribe to my philosophies, is a state of mind and attitude that all men hold at their core. It is only the truly enlightened who concede to and act upon it.

((Not at all :) Thank you, I really need to see Hex now after reading up on Azazeal and ogling his icons. PS: How did you get the ooc text to be smaller - when I use font size=1 on this layout, it changes nothing :/))

"À l'oeuvre on reconnaît l'artisan." You can tell an artist by his handiwork. "I imagine, dear Marquis, that it would not even remotely be a stretch of the imagination to say that you use your hands quite a lot. Each stroke bringing an immense pleasure to your captive audience. I am, of course, referring to your literary work, which I have tasted with great pleasure. It is in that sentiment that I have added you to my "friends" list, if only to recapture, with some nostalgia I must add, the enthusiasm with which I would yell out, 'encore, encore'."
