Lots of people are asking a lot of questions lately.

[It's more an observation to herself than anything of real consequence -- but Rachel shrugs.]

My dads told me bedtime stories when I was younger.

[Her... fathers? Plural? Katherine... is trying very hard to charitably decide that means a foster arrangement of some sort. Or perhaps a guardian or patron.]

What manner of tales were they?

Love stories, mostly -- the prince rescuing the princess from the tower to whisk her away...or they told me the stories in the musicals I watched and made me the star.

Musicals? A pageant with madrigals?

[She'd... rather like that sort of thing, actually.]

I would very much like to attend one.

They may. I do not recall many of the stories I was told.

Surely a man like you was raised on stories of action and daring.

Occasionally my father would tell stories, not very good ones, though, and I was too young to remember any of the ones my mother told me.

Mostly, though, what was told where I was from is a history more than a tale.

That is always the way. What I told were the tales of battles I saw.
