are you in a delicate condition, kleines Mädchen? *sporfle* Also, the idea of Schuldig with a beard breaks my brain very slightly. It is the anime faces, I think; they cannot have facial hair unless the stubble line is already drawn on.

he could not suppress a moment of pleasure at the flicker of unguarded alarm on Micah's face. I also. Rar. *is suspicious of Micah and his insiduous ways*

It seems quite suitably Victorian that they regard large quantities of alcohol as essential provisions for trugging out into the Martian desert (well, if they've been there for several months and still have enough to get four men and a Nagi properly drunk...)

Schuldig with a bright orange beard! He's as freaked by the thought as you are :-)

And Micah's just saying. Anyway, it's not like he's a doctor, so Crawford shouldn't spend a single moment more worrying about it.

Heh. I'm not at all sure that it's clear, but Schwarz are actually very abstemious for Victorian men - Crawford and Schuldig drink occasionally (but Crawford's not in favour of S being drunk), and none of them smoke. Yes, here it's the bad guys who don't light up! Rosenkreuz doesn't approve of its people taking things that might impair any of their natural or paranormal abilities in any way. (Though they're still happy to use truly scary Victorian drugs on kids, of course).

Yes, they are - I was a little surprised to find they had all that drink stashed away, as they are not generally all, 'wayyy, Rum for Breakfast!' - but possibly that is the cheese sandwich mechanics going on again. But they are very forward-thinking with their horrible, horrible coffee.

Hee! I think they probably had a couple of bottles of wine, one bottle of schnapps and a bottle of brandy for medicinal purposes. They already drank a measly one bottle of wine when they first showed up at the city.

The power of Victorian cheese sandwich mechanics is truly imperial!

Oh, happy! A new chapter. You know, I've been formulating reasons for my instinctive distrust of Micah, and I'd like to see what he says to this: If Eszett saw Schwarz needing help, they should have sent a telekinetic (which Schwarz was ostensibly lacking) for defensive and archaeological purposes, or another powerful talent. Instead, they sent someone who can't be read, who is almost designed to gain the confidence of Schwarz's leader, and who has the teaching credentials to pull them back into line if need be. What could a person like that possibly be best suited for?

...and now Crawford will see the effects of Schuldig's worry as burnout, which way lies mutual over-protection and upgraded crankiness, leaving them more vulnerable to attack. *cuddles them both from the safe vantage of 120 years and millions of miles* Things couldn't be working better for Micahthe unrevealed local force to be booed by the readers if he'd planted that vision himself.

Micah is shocked. Shocked and appalled! See his innocent, open face? See his happiness in finding his childhood friend and discovering that friend is his brother? See his Victorian unease with finding his brother has a boyfriend? It's true he has had little thought of querying their masters in the past, but Bradley's vision of freedom and a good life for all of them is one he finds pleasureable and worth striving for.

Upgraded crankiness is something that all of Schwarz should fear. When Schuldig throws a wobbly, everyone throws a wobbly. Especially when there's a little empath around to act as an amplifier.

But Micah will do his best to keep everyone with their eyes on the prize.

I am unconvinced. See my scepticism? See my distrust of anything sent out of Eszett's generosity? See my efforts to not think about the visions of doom? See how Schwarz has a happy, innocent Brad-admirer already? Ha! Suspicious and redundant!

I would not want to be around when Nagi throws a wobbly. Which would happen anyway if something happened to Crawford or Schuldig, let alone both of them. I forsee earthquakes. Large, flying buildings. Little puddles of goo, like a giant's version of the Splat! boardgame.

But Micah will do his best to keep everyone with their eyes on the prize.

Unh-huh. So that he can sneak around where they're not looking.

Hee! All the roles are filled! The Hero (Crawford: I quite agree), the Sidekick (Schuldig: What? How come I'm the sidekick? I'm not a sidekick!), the Psycho (Farfarello: . . . I can't argue with that, actually) and the Kid (Nagi: Is it all right with everyone if I moon over Brad for a while and then insist on getting into bed with him and Schuldig in an innocent and platonic manner?) Micah'll just have to carve his own niche.

If Nagi throws a wobbly things would get very interesting indeed. All that delayed puberty has to go somewhere.

Unh-huh. So that he can sneak around where they're not looking.

Hee! I'm glad I wasn't drinking anything when I read that :-)

When he was twenty-one he died, his heart being simply unable to carry on the strain of his accelerated physical state.

Imagine that - and in light of this, how unsurprising it would be to find Schuldig dead one morning, his heart having succumbed to the strain of his talent at last. No need to look for other reasons for the tragically sudden demise in such an event, surely.

I should be careful not to put him in situations that might strain his heart

Aww, poor Brad. Don't you at least want to make sure he dies in a happy moment? *g*

It would be sad. But Crawford would be brave and bear up under the grief. He'd take it like a man.

Aww, poor Brad. Don't you at least want to make sure he dies in a happy moment?

Schuldig must be kept wrapped in cotton wool until he his heart he explodes in a mass of frustrated, worried celibacy! (Though as Crawford feels it only fair to point out, he wasn't the one to invite Nagi into their bed on an extended basis).

So many questions and only five assassins to fulfil them all! They might be able to hijack or steal an etherflyer - but I'm not so sure they'd be able to fly it very well.

So much new Mars Assassins lately! Yes!

Poor loyal (and bearded!) Schuldig. As if he, of all people, feels he needs a beard....

Micah is really pushing it. C'mon, Crawford, connect the dots already!

It's a Victorian-tastic time!

As if he, of all people, feels he needs a beard....

Hee hee! Indeed.

Micah just wants the best for his dear brother. It's best not to become too attached to telepaths and people who can move as fast as Schuldig. They just don't last long. Like hamsters.
