Seeming as I plan to not publish my novels until a few years away, that shouldn't be a bother to me.

I write for enjoyment. I don't have to write. I don't have to write novels. Fanfictions aren't useless. While I'm writing, I'm entertained. And, at the moment, that's all that matters. I

I'm glad you realized that. Writing for yourself is the key to enjoying it. Writing what you want is also the key to getting better. I think motivation is everything one needs to do anything - no technique, no fancy names you pick up somewhere else because you can create your own system. (You know, if we were all the same, it'd be boring as hell.)

Also, I can't help it: If you're writing for yourself, you still have an ideal reader - it's you. :P

I suppose, in a way, I can envy my 13 year old self then. They had plenty of motivation.
