Day 8 - The Black Cat (a live-written story)

I know why I don't write very much. Well, first of, I'm lazy.  But besides that, I'm slow.  It takes me forever just to write a few paragraphs. Not always, but often.  The major factor I think, like I said earlier, is that I can't turn off the editor.  I should just be writing and writing freely, not worried about good sentence structure, or ( Read more... )

You're at 2100 words. Does that feel right, or are you surprised by how many (or few) words it takes to tell your tale? Does it help you to know how many words you've written? I ask because I didn't consider doing that on mine (and it fluctuates as I add details or move scenes around), but it seems fun to say "I wrote x today, and my total is y."

The running count helps me stay motivated. I am not trying to hit a particular word count for this one, but it helps to show progress. I am surprised by how this this story is developing. I had the begining pegged from the start. The end was sketched out, anthe there were a few target points in the middle. But admidst all that, it has grown in scope as i have written and thought about it.
