She'd been so busy mentally preparing for the next assignment in restaurant school, she didn't even think about the significance of this date.

Angel was oblivious to the food situation, since he tended not to eat and all. But he still went into the kitchen because that's where other people were.

"This crossword is broken," he said, not looking up from the paper he was holding.

There was a pot of coffee on, if he felt so inclined.

"The clues don't work." Angel tossed the paper down onto a counter so Veronica could see it if she was so inclined. He had some of the answers filled in. "Check 15 down. 6 letters. The clue says 'holiday Geronimo.' So far I've got _ _ h _ _ _. I know the H is right because the clue for that is definitely 'hockey.' But what the hell are the other letters?"

Veronica glanced over, chewing on her lower lip. "Hmm. Well, the clue for 8 across is 'selected' and it's six letters starting with a 'c'."

After a moment, she grabbed the pen and filled in 'chosen'. "Now we've got _ _ h o _ _."
