which is just a fancy way to say my horrible attempt at some minis.

They're so different honestly; and Kibum can't understand why they're together. Jonghyun is loud and ridiculous and obnoxious and all sorts of catastrophe waiting to happen. He's almost like Jinki minus the sangtae and obsessive love of chicken; but not quite because Jinki's started to be a little more serious (just a little; he's still the loveable squishy leader they all knew), and Jonghyun will never quite be serious. Taemin is (his son) quiet and full of soft smiles with occasional whines of "hyung!" and other cute little words or actions that make them all run to pinch his cheeks (causing him to scowl even more before laughing).
Jonghyun is everywhere at once and impatient. Taemin is somewhat controlled (this is probably thanks to Kibum's unannounced-but-obvious-OCD) and patient and just all sorts of "not like that, try like this..."; it makes Kibum just a little bit jealous. But he's still mostly confused on just why they're together in the first place. He wonders while he fixes dinner ("dumplings again?" Jinki inquires; "if you have a problem with it, you can cook." Kibum replies without missing a beat; "dumplings are okay!"), wondering while he bickers with Minho lightly over a game of checkers ("only the checkers with two pieces can move backwards." "what kind of game is this?!"), and even sometimes wonders as he's having the coordi-noona touch his hair up ("stop squirming, Kim Kibum," is something she says often).
He changes his mind when he looks over at them during their movie night - Minho's sprawled on the couch; a gracefully awkward mess of limbs while Jinki is at the kitchen table pouring over a script and occasionally flicking eyes to watch the movie with them. Kibum's just about to sit down with the bowl of popcorn when he catches Taemin and Jonghyun curled on the tiny loveseat.
He takes note of how Taemin's always-thin form somehow fits with Jonghyun's frame and build, how even their breaths are synchronized together, how their fingers stay entwined throughout their dreamland; and he does something that surprises even him: Kibum smiles, finally understanding why they're together; before pulling a blanket over them and settling down on the couch next to an (extremely warm) also-sleepy Minho. When Jinki looks over not even ten minutes later, Kibum's curled up with the lanky male; and it's Jinki's turn to smile.
Jinki has picked up waiting tables as part of an after school job. The pay isn't terribly bad and the hours are extremely flexible (they like that he does so much for his school, it seems), the customers are extremely nice and friendly and supportive of what he does. Sometimes he trips (but luckily, it isn't with food) and almost breaks dishes, and acts embarrassed about this fact.
There's a male that comes in every day from 8 am sharp until 8:15 that always orders a cup of coffee ("black, please" the voice speaks, and Jinki's floored by how such a deep voice can come out of such a skinny person). And this is all he orders, always tipping before he walks out. Jinki watches him one day - all the male does is watch the scenery and sips his coffee. Jinki shouldn't be so fascinated by it, but he is. He learns that the male's name is Minho and that he goes to another high school.
Jonghyun, one of the other waiters, always teases him ("Look Jinki, your boyfriend's here." "Shut up Jjong!") about his little crush - because this is really all it is. One morning on his break (that was the last all nighter he was going to pull), he sits down across from Minho.
A moment passes in awkward silence - Minho sipping his coffee and Jinki's cheeks turning pink as he whispers "Excuse me."
"He speaks. Me too, excuse me;" the voice rumbles, and Jinki blushes even more and knocks over a salt shaker.
"I'm...not really a bad person. I just --"
"Have trouble expressing yourself?" he finishes, and Jinki blushes even harder and somehow knocks over the pepper, much to his dismay. "Well, have courage. You came all the way here."
And suddenly Minho's standing up, grabbing a pen and Jinki's hand, scribbling a number on it and folding it closed with a smirk, standing up and leaving with a "Call me, alright?"
And Jinki does.
